Marriage Counseling in Pinellas Park

When you find yourself saying "I'm tired of feeling this way," it may be time to get help. Marriage counseling at The Hope Center for Healing and Health gives both of you a safe place to be heard, understand what's really driving the conflict, and make real changes together. You'll work with Pamela Wiggins, MA, LMHC, in person at our Pinellas Park office, convenient to St. Petersburg, Largo, Seminole and Clearwater, or by secure telehealth anywhere in Florida.

Signs it may be time

  • Arguments that go in circles or turn hurtful
  • Criticism, defensiveness, contempt or shutting down
  • Feeling lonely, unappreciated or taken for granted
  • Infidelity, secrets or broken trust
  • Less affection or intimacy than you both want
  • Disagreements about money, parenting, family or the future

How marriage counseling works

Each partner influences the other, often in ways neither one sees. In counseling, we identify those patterns, understand where they come from, and help you both make conscious changes. Our work draws on the Gottman Method, one of the most researched approaches to couples therapy, and focuses on:

  • Friendship and fondness: rebuilding the everyday connection that keeps a marriage strong
  • Managing conflict: learning to raise issues gently, take breaks and repair
  • Trust and commitment: healing after betrayal and rebuilding safety
  • Shared meaning: agreeing on the values, goals and rituals you want your marriage to have

When both partners accept their part and work together, health and healing can take place.

What to expect

Your first session is a 60-minute intake with both partners. Ongoing sessions are 60 minutes, and we may occasionally meet with each of you individually. Couples sessions are $200 per session, private pay, and you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Will the counselor take sides?
No. The relationship is the client. Each of you will be heard and treated with respect.

Can marriage counseling help after an affair?
Yes. Many couples rebuild trust after infidelity with structured, honest work and time.

What if we decide to separate?
Counseling can still help you part in the healthiest way possible, especially when children are involved. See our Divorce Recovery Counseling page.
