Trauma and PTSD Counseling in Pinellas Park

Trauma can stay with you long after the event is over. You might feel on edge, have trouble sleeping, replay what happened, avoid people or places, or feel numb and disconnected. These are common reactions to overwhelming experiences, and they can change. At The Hope Center for Healing and Health, you'll work one on one with Pamela Wiggins, MA, LMHC, a licensed mental health counselor serving Pinellas County since 2004. Sessions are in person in Pinellas Park, close to St. Petersburg, Largo, Seminole and Clearwater, or by secure telehealth anywhere in Florida.

Who this helps

  • Adults living with PTSD or symptoms after a traumatic event
  • Survivors of accidents, loss, violence or other frightening experiences
  • People carrying the effects of childhood or long-term trauma
  • First responders, veterans and family members affected by trauma
  • Anyone whose past keeps showing up in their relationships, sleep or mood

Our trauma-informed approach

Trauma-informed care means safety comes first. You set the pace, you decide what to share and when, and we focus on building stability before going deeper. We work on:

  • Understanding your reactions. We explain in plain language how trauma affects the brain and body, so your responses make sense instead of feeling like a personal failure.
  • Calming the nervous system. Grounding, breathing and mindfulness skills you can use when memories or anxiety hit.
  • Changing stuck patterns. Evidence-based tools, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to work with the thoughts, beliefs and habits that keep trauma in charge.
  • Rebuilding your life. Reconnecting with relationships, purpose and the things that matter to you.

Because the brain keeps changing throughout life, patterns that feel permanent can shift with the right support and practice. Between sessions, clients can use our Between Sessions app for check-ins, coping skills and journaling.

What to expect

Your first visit is a 60-minute intake where we talk about what brought you in and what you want to be different. We won't push you to tell your whole story on day one. Ongoing sessions are 60 minutes. Fees are $180 per session, private pay, and you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to talk about the trauma in detail?
Not before you're ready. Much of the early work is about safety and coping skills. You stay in control of what you share.

Can trauma counseling be done by telehealth?
Yes. Many clients find it easier to start from the comfort of home. You need to be located in Florida during each session.

Is this a crisis service?
No. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
